Does your student have a strong passion for horses and a desire to spend extensive time at the barn? Our Barn Bratz Apprenticeship Program may be an excellent option for them! This program allows students to be present at the barn during designated working hours, providing hands-on experiences. Participants will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and develop their skills through activities such as: riding, grooming, assisting with feeding, cleaning, and learning about various aspects of equine care. This is an unpaid internship, and participation is free of charge. Previous experience with horses and confidence around them is required. Our program fosters a positive environment where participants gain valuable experience, make new connections, and build lasting friendships!

Requirements

 
  • Must be able to commit to 10 hours weekly during summer

  • Must be familiar with Western and English riding

  • Ability to catch and tie horses

  • Able to thoroughly groom multiple horses


What does being a Barn Brat include?

 

With lots of activities planned this summer, Barn Brats will be an integral part of all of the fun! You will learn about the daily process of running a barn, while enjoying the friendship of a fun-loving team.

You will be representing Wild Hearts, so a good attitude and appropriate clothing is a must!

You will receive weekly tasks. You are responsible for completing these tasks! If you are not able, you must find another BB who can cover for you.


Responsibilities

 

You will learn and be responsible for many different things as a Barn Brat! Here are some:

  • Farrier & Vet schedules

  • Lesson schedule

  • Fence mending

  • Raking

  • Horse Psychology/Herd Dynamics

  • Arena maintenance

  • Mucking

  • Feeding

  • Wound Care

  • Feed bucket & waterer cleaning

  • Camp/show/event management
